Responsibilities on Job Plans, PMs and Work Orders

responsibilities

The responsibility fields exist on job plans, PMs and work orders but when a job plan or a PM is applied to a work order what are the defaulting rules on the work order?

The responsibility section has the following attributes:

Field JOBPLAN PM WORKORDER
Supervisor SUPERVISOR SUPERVISOR SUPERVISOR
Crew AMCREW AMCREW AMCREW
Lead LABORCODE LEAD LEAD
Work Group PERSONGROUP PERSONGROUP PERSONGROUP
Owner OWNER OWNER OWNER
Owner Group OWNERGROUP OWNERGROUP OWNERGROUP
Crew Work Group CREWWORKGROUP CREWWORKGROUP CREWWORKGROUP

Not all the fields can be filled:

If there is a crew work group then you can only select a crew that belongs to the crew work group.

The attributes OWNER, OWNERGROUP and CREWWORKGROUP also exist on the job plan tasks (JOBTASK) but not supervisor, crew, lead or work group.

Applying a Job Plan to a Work Order

When a job plan is selected and applied to a work order then:

Applying a PM with no Job Plan to a Work Order

Applying a PM with a Job Plan to a Work Order when the PM responsibility fields are blank

Applying a PM with a Job Plan to a Work Order when the PM and Job Plan responsibility fields are both filled.

How should we use the Responsibility fields on a Job Plan and PM?

Thanks for a concise explanation. Do you have any input on why the labor group defaults don’t work correctly? We are on Version 7.5 and even when setting the defaults in the group for group or organization Maximo still assigns the lead as someone else in the group. Very frustrating.

Hi thanks for sharing the secrets!
Are you aware of any documentation, additionally to your suggested use in this post, for the Template Type attribution?

The template type was introduced around the time Maximo supported ITIL processes with the Ticket and Work Order classes. The template type was just a way of grouping Job Plans together where they serve a common purpose. It has no underlying function other than to group Job Plans.

So I am used to LEAD on the jobplan and to me this references the laborcode of who I may have assigned. I have been trying to understand the new work centers. I was suppressed to see them use the supervisor to assign a workorder to a laborcode – and the used the owner field. We can of have – misused the owner field as the planner that is responsible for the pm or workorder. Is there definitions for crews, lead, owners and labor assignments?

When I have a PM that has Job Plan Sequence set up where do I put all my Finish Constraint Offet there is only enough room for the main one?

Hi Tina. When using PMs with multiple job plans in a sequence then add the constraint offsets to the job plan rather than the PM.
