Quiz Answers – Condition Enabled Items -2

One small topic, 10 questions on Condition Enabled Items (part 2):

Q1 – Can you set the condition enabled check box on the Inventory application?

Answer – No, it is always read-only and it is showing the field from the Item object.

Q2 – You have a condition enabled item with 3 condition records with condition rates of 100, 80 and 60. The item has been added to the CENTRAL storeroom with an AVERAGE issue cost type. What must you do before you add a balance of the item with a condition code with condition rate of 60%?

Answer – You must add a record to the Inventory Costs table window in the CENTRAL storeroom with the condition code for the condition rate for which a balance needs to be entered. If you have not done this, you will receive the error “BMXAA1814E – Cannot add balances for this condition code. Please specify an inventory cost first.”

Q3 – You have a condition enabled item with 3 condition records with condition rates of 100, 80 and 60. In the CENTRAL storeroom I have an inventory balance of 2, 5, and 3 respectively. What does the Current Balance field for the condition enabled item show?

Answer – 10, it is not a trick question.

Q4 – Which of the Issue Cost Types is valid for a condition enabled item in inventory?

A – STANDARD

B – STANDARD, AVERAGE

C – STANDARD, AVERAGE, LIFO, FIFO

D – STANDARD, AVERAGE, ASSET, LIFO, FIFO

Answer – D. There is a condition code field on the Assets application which is used when the Issue Cost Type is ASSET. There is a condition code field on the Inventory LIFO/FIFO Costs table window.

Q5 – When issuing an item in the Inventory application against a reservation that requested a condition enabled item with a condition rate of 80, and there is no balance at this condition rate, can the item be issued at any other condition rate for which you do have a balance? If yes, which of the other two condition rates of 100 or 60 with sufficient balances can be issued instead?

Answer – You can issue the item with any condition code for which you have balances, so either 100 or 60 in this example. You could issue the item with condition code of SCRAP and condition rate of 0 or 5%, but no doubt the requester would not be very happy to receive the item.

Q6 – If I issue a condition enabled item with condition rate of 80 to a work order, can I return the item to a storeroom at a difference condition rate?

Answer – Yes, you could issue an item with a condition code of 100% and return it at any other condition code that has been set up for the item. You could issue an item with condition code of REPAIR and return at NEW, not that this would be normal.

Q7 – When you transfer a condition enabled item with condition rate of 80 to a storeroom where the item does not exist, what happens?

Answer – The item is added to the storeroom, with two condition rates, 100 and 80. The condition code with a condition rate of 100% is always added along with the condition code that was transferred. There will only be a balance associated with the condition rate of 80% in this case.

Q8 – On the Work Order Tracking application can you specify a direct issue item with a condition rate of 80?

Answer – No. The Condition Code field is read-only. Add a long description to the work plan materials to indicate to the buyer that they need to buy a reconditioned item rather than a new one.

Q9 – Can you purchase a condition enabled item with a condition rate of 80?

Answer – Yes. Purchase Requisition, Request for Quotations and Purchase Order applications all support the purchase of condition enabled items where you can specify the condition code that you wish to buy.

Q10 – We have reservations for a condition enabled item, one each at a condition rate of 100 and 80. If the inventory reorder process would purchase a total quantity of 2 of this item, what quantity of each condition rate will be ordered?

A – The PR/PO line will not reference a condition rate for this item

B – There will be two PR/PO lines one with a condition rate of 100 and one with condition rate of 80

C – The reorder process will ignore the condition enabled item, the reorder point is against the item

D – The PR/PO line will reference the condition rate of 100 only, but the quantity will be 2

Answer – D – A quantity of 2 of the item with condition rate of 100%. The Reorder Point is at the level of the item, and not the condition code of the item.

Hi! For the last question, does that mean that if ihave one item which is condition enabled and my current balance is 4 (2 new and 2 used) , if my reorder point is 3, nothing happens?
I would have liked to setup some reorder points by condition (to avoid having lots of Used items in my storeroom).
    Thanks for your help.
