jobplanrevisions

Job Plan revisions became available with the release of Maximo 7.5 and with it the extension of the number of statuses. The initial revision number is zero. The action Revise Job Plan opens a dialogue box with the next revision number completed. A Revision Description is a mandatory attribute, it can have a long description.

Disabling Revision Control of Job Plans

While job plan revisions is the default setting it can be disabled from the Organizations application in the dialogue box called System Settings. Scroll down until you find the section called Job Plans and uncheck “Revision Control for Job Plans?”.

Job Plan Statuses with Revision Control Enabled

With job plan revisions enabled the set of statuses are DRAFT, ACTIVE, PNDREV (Pending Revision), REVISED, INACTIVE and CANCEL. DRAFT is the default status on insert of a new record. A job plan can have multiple revisions but only one can be at a status of ACTIVE at any one time.

The following table shows the permissible statuses from the current status and whether the job plan can be edited or is read-only:

Current Status New Status Edit Job Plan?
DRAFT ACTIVE or INACTIVE Yes
ACTIVE INACTIVE No, except Work Assets
INACTIVE ACTIVE No, except Work Assets
PNDREV ACTIVE or CANCEL Yes
REVISED No, except Work Assets
CANCEL No, except Work Assets

A revision is created using the action Revise Job Plan but only at ACTIVE status. The revision is a complete copy of the job plan created with a status of PNDREV (Pending Revision). The job plan can continue to be amended at PNDREV. The job plan at ACTIVE status can still be applied to work orders but it cannot have its status changed and it cannot be revised for a second time you will receive the error message “BMXAA8318E – You cannot revise a job plan that is in the Revised status.” When the job plan revision is made ACTIVE the previous revision becomes REVISED. If a job plan at PNDREV is set to a status of CANCEL then the previous revision continues to be at ACTIVE status.

Only job plans at ACTIVE status can be applied to a work order.

Job Plan Statuses with Revision Control Disabled

When job plan revisions have been disabled the set of statuses are DRAFT, ACTIVE and INACTIVE. DRAFT is the default status on insert of a new record. The job plan status can be freely changed to another value. At all statuses the job plan remains editable. Only job plans at ACTIVE status can be applied to a work order.
