An Asset MeterAn Asset Meter is the name given to a meter that is attached to an asset. More is the name given to a meter that is attached to an asset.
There are multiple ways in which an asset meter can be created, by using the New Row button, by applying a Meter GroupA Meter Group is a set of meters and can include all three meter types. More to the asset, by associating a rotating item to the asset, if the item record references a meter group, by adding a new meter to an existing meter group, the meter can be added to all assets that reference the meter group, finally by applying an asset template to the asset, if this asset template has meter records.
Asset Meters can be any of the three types, continuous, gauge or characteristic and they can accept meter readings for all three types. The Sequence field is used for setting an order. There is no limit to the number of meters that are associated with an asset.
Location Meters work almost identically to Asset Meters, all three meter types are supported. They can be created in the same ways as for assets with the exception of being created from an asset template. Where there is a difference is that a meter reading can roll down to the same meter name in an asset hierarchy, however there is no roll down of a meter reading on a location to its descendent location records. The meter reading added to the location can roll across to the same meter on the location’s assets, but there is no roll down to child locationsA physical place where assets exist and where work can be performed. More of these meter readings.
There is an asset meter status, active or inactive. To accept a roll down of meter readings the asset meter must be active, the asset meter must also be active to be used to generate work orders on a meter-based PM or on work order generation from the Condition Monitoring application.
The read-only field called Point is referencing a Measurement Point record created in the Condition Monitoring application. A Measurement Point references either an asset or a location and a meter name, when the record is created the unique measurement point number is copied to the asset or location meter.
Asset Meters and Location Meters both exist at the SiteA structural element of a Maximo database that is used for data separation. More level.
