Asset Template

A template for generating and updating similar assets.

Originally introduced as part of Calibration, the main object is PLUSCTEMPLATE, an Organization level object. Typically, a set of similar assets would share the same manufacturer and model and would have the same set of Spare Parts, Preventive Maintenance routines, the same set of Meters and the same Specification, these details are entered from the tabs seen along the top of the Asset Templates application. Depreciation Schedules can also be set up.

The Model Number field will be found in the Calibration section. The Data Sheets tab is only relevant to Calibration assets.

Two actions Generate New Assets and Apply to Existing Assets allow you to create new assets from the Asset Template and then update them if you make changes. The second action allows you to select the assets allowing an Asset Template to be applied to existing assets that were not generated from an Asset Template, i.e., applied retrospectively, therefore it can be used by existing clients who have already created their assets.

If there are custom fields that share the same name between the Asset and Asset Template objects and have the same type and length, then Maximo will copy that data when the Asset Template creates new assets. You can also create rotating assets if you unhide the Rotating Item field and create a crossover domain to copy the value, but take care because rotating item functionality and asset template functionality can conflict, for example, they can both update the classification and specification.
