Rotating Asset

A Rotating Asset is an asset that is tracked between operating locations, repair workshops, and can be added to a storeroom ready to be issued again.

An asset that references a Rotating Item is called a Rotating Asset, an asset that is stocked and can be tracked in/out of a storeroom. The term rotating has nothing to do with assets that physically rotate, but the movement of the asset between different types of location and the issuing of the asset from a storeroom.

A rotating item is an item or tool that is marked as Rotating, a YORN field.

As there is now the Asset Templates functionality where you can update multiple assets from changes made on the Asset Template it is best to now consider reserving a rotating asset for assets that are stocked in a storeroom.

Tool assets are assets that are held in a storeroom, are issued and returned, they refer to a tool item that is marked as rotating.

The Change Item Number action is used to convert an asset to a rotating asset (or vice versa), or to change the rotating item on an existing asset.

You can only apply an Item Assembly Structure to a rotating asset. This creates the subassemblies and spare parts of the asset.
