Location Network

A Location Network is a location system where the operating locations are formed into a network allowing locations to have none, one or multiple parents.

In the example shown an operating location MH101 belongs to three systems, SANITORY and STORM are location networks, GEO is a location hierarchy, but it is not the primary hierarchy, in fact MH101 does not belong to the Primary Hierarchy, this is quite acceptable. Operating location MH101 has two parents in the SANITARY location network, SAN100 and SAN201, and it has one child in the same location system, SAN101.

In a location network there can be multiple top-level locations.

In an electric utility a location system can represent an electric circuit. Each tower/pylon is a location with two (or more) parents, one for each electric circuit. When an outage occurs on a circuit you can find all the towers/pylons affected. There are normally three arms to the tower/pylon, one for each phase.

The process for creating a networked location is the same as for one to be added into the primary hierarchy. When you create a new operating location, you use the action Associate Systems with Location, you select the network system and the parent location in that network, this adds the location into the location network.

All locations in the location network must belong to the same Site
