The Object LevelThe Object Level is the level of a data object in Maximo, and it supports its multiple organization and multiple site capabilities. More is the level of a data object in Maximo, and it supports its multiple organization and multiple site capabilities, referred to as multi-siteMaximo has a multi-site, multi-org data structure. The database can support multiple organizations and within each organization there is one or more sites. More, multi-org.
You’ll find the field in the Database Configuration application with the title of Level. The attribute is SITEORGTYPE in the object MAXOBJECTCFG. This is an important field for anyone configuring the Maximo system as it helps determine the correct way to join objects with a relationship.
There are five main types, SITE, ORG, COMPANYSET, ITEMSET and SYSTEM. Apart from system level objects you’ll find one of the key attributes in the object will be SITEID, ORGID, COMPANYSETID and ITEMSETID depending on the level, you would join tables in a relationship using the key attribute.
While there are 12 levels in all, six are rarely used, but Classifications and Job Plans both have a level called SYSTEMORGSITE. This allows, for example, a job plan to exist at either the System, OrganizationA structural element of a Maximo database which is used for data sharing. More or SiteA structural element of a Maximo database that is used for data separation. More level depending on whether you have added an Organization or Site value.
When a record is inserted and saved, you’ll find that these key fields can no longer be modified. On the Job Plans application, after save the Organization and Site fields will be read-only.
I’ll be using the symbols on the right throughout all the Glossary pages to indicate the object level where you will find the term being described.
